Four Counties Removed from European Grapevine Moth Quarantine

As of January 7th, the European Grapevine Moth quarantine has been lifted for Santa Clara, Nevada, and Santa Cruz counties, and also for a portion of Sonoma county. CDFA Secretary Karen Ross, in announcing the lift, said that California grape growers, local communities, and regulatory authorities had made progress in reducing the presence of the pest within the state.

The lifting of the quarantine affects some 317,000 acres of land, but the quarantine remains in place for all of Napa and parts of Sonoma and Solano counties. This impacts not only farmers, but those who transport, process, and handle grapes in the quarantined areas.
